This latte rpoint is frequently ignored by studnets who belive they are praciticng well simply because thye are using rythms and bowing sfrom the Galamian book. The only proviso is Galamian`s cooment that repeating a chunk in this way one one can -aleady do it- is a waste of time. One finds the right basic tehcncila material and works at it everyday with rythms accent and bowing combinations. The quesiton of how you gte there is quite simple. I recall to this day a virtuouso studnet at TCM called Steve Bryant who whise dthough an unpublished work of Auer in mindblowing rapid double stops as though it wa sa storll in the park. When you see someone with this level of technique it can be awesome. It is a shtough the fingers go to all the right places like magic. ![]() ![]() ![]() What I mena by this is that when sight reading the brain take sin a chunk of 6 or 8 rapid notes and does not have to process them at a conscious level. ![]() Sight reading itself does, in my opinion, boil down to a very simple cocnept which I refer to losely and rather imprecisely as tehcnical facility. Perhaps the fastest way to resolve this is to get out sevcik or Schradieck and work on the high position exercises with various rythms everyday for half an hour or so.
